First Ever Successful Animal to Human Heart Transplant

A man called David Bennett aged 57, has become the first person ever to get a heart transplant from a genetically modified pig. As of now he feels good after the surgery. The man had to choose between death and getting the genetically modified pig’s heart. He chose the pig heart as it was a chance at extending his life.

The success of this organ transplantation could fix the organ shortage crisis. Saving the lives of people who might have passed away due to not having any organs to be provided to them. People die all the time on the waiting list waiting for organs. Everything is good now, however there is no telling yet of how this will turn out. This is the first time ever so they have no data about possible secondary effects. No one knows if all this is a viable strategy for the future. If any lethal secondary effects appear this transplant method might end here. That is why the medical team is still researching everyday to fix the organ shortage crisis.

This is not the first ever “Xenotransplantation” (It is the transplantation of living cells, tissues or organs from one species to another.). But it is the first successful one.
