Joe Biden and Xi-Jinping have had a virtual meeting, they have discussed such things as Hong Kong, Taiwan and the relations between the two superpowers. They have already agreed to calm down the visas on the journalists entering each others country. On Taiwan, the US President Joe Biden stressed the US will follow the “One China Policy” just as they have in the past and will still follow the idea of strategic ambiguity on Taiwan, not guaranteeing their independence but wanting to protect democracy around the world, With the US President later clarifying “I said that they have to decide, Taiwan, not us. We are not encouraging independence,”.
