In Portugal there is a new ban. Portugal Bans Bosses Contacting Employees After Work Hours
Portugal has made it illegal for bosses to contact employees after work hours. They did this to allow people to maintain the healthy lifestyle between work and the personal life of these employees. This means that bosses can face jail time if they attempt to contact employees after work hours. As it is only legal to contact them during work hours.
This is very efficient as in Portugal there are many people that make minimum wage causing them to work late hours. This helps people maintain mental health as they would not only be physically but mentally fatigued as they wouldn’t over work themselves. This also allows people to take more time to themselves and sort out their personal life. In addition, it is well know that Portugal has many elderly workers as it is a country with many elderly people. Especially poor people meaning they don’t get much of a choice to retirement. So adding these new rules will definitely help these elderly workers in some way.
However, in a case where there is tight deadline in work, bosses can’t keep contact with the employees to keep them up to date with their deadline and their work. This can make it hard for the employees to finish their work without being in contact with their bosses to get feedback on it. I want to know what people think. Do you think, this should also happen in UK? Do you think this will stop productivity or it will increase productivity? In many cases people are saying, happy staff, happy customers, you do agree with this phrase?
Daily Manchester supports the following: happy staff = happy customers. We do think that if you don’t respect and look after your staff, then your company will suffer.
