Currently the lightweight division is on fire with George Kambosos Jr pulling off the upset against Teofimo Lopez and capturing the IBF,WBA,WBC “Franchise” and WBO lightweight titles. Teofimo was the favourite with the odds of him winning being at -1000 and George Kambosos was set as a +600 underdog. Teofimo’s odds of -1000 implied a win probability of 90% whilst George Kambosos implied a win probability of just 14%.However, the underdog managed to pull off the victory even dropping Teofimo in the first round however, Teofimo returned the favour knocking him down in the 10th.In the end it wasn’t enough to convince the judges, who scored the fight 115-111 for Kambosos,114-113 Lopez and 115-112 for Kambosos making it a majority decision as two judges were in favour of George Kambosos Jr.

Devin “The Dream” Haney retained his WBC Lightweight belt last night becoming 27-0.He defeated the 32-2-1 veteran  JoJo Diaz in Las Vegas winning by unanimous decision (meaning all 3 judges scored the bout in his favour). The judges scored the bout 117-111,117-111,116-112 all 3 in favour of Haney, this meant two judges believed Haney won 9 rounds to 3 and the other believed he won 8-4.The majority of the fight went like this, Haney outboxed Jojo Diaz with his snappy jab and combinations however, JoJo Diaz would manage to edge his way closer and land a couple of power shots, with which he stunned Haney with in the 12th.

Devin Haney and George Kambosos got to talk at the end of the fight, speaking very respectfully to each other as they talked about a future bout between the two. George Kambosos wants the fight in his native home Australia and Devin showed no concerns replying with “Ill go to Jupiter if I have to”.The fight would make it an undisputed fight as all 4 major boxing titles are on the line WBA,WBO,WBC and IBF the winner will recieve all 4 belts making them undisputed champion of the lightweight division. Currently, there are only 6 undisputed champions with Canelo being the latest.
