Type of a television genre that documents unscripted real-life situations that often stars unknown people or celebrities. It ranges from real housewives, love island, and many more. People tend to find these shows entertaining and interesting. It allows career development for some people as it allows job opportunities from film executives to cleaners.

But reality shows do have a damaging side, some can be traumatic for contestants taking part. Others have the need to create a certain image for the audience. Some shows, however, negatively impact people socially by copying behaviour that promotes dysfunctional relationships and in other cases, elevates shallow personalities.
